Youmna Saba
Youmna Saba (*1984, Beirut) ist Musikerin und Musikwissenschaftlerin, deren Forschung sich auf die Wechselbeziehung zwischen klassischer arabischer Musik aus dem Mashriq (meist mit Fokus auf das Vokalrepertoire des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts) und elektronischen und elektroakustischen Bearbeitungen konzentriert. Derzeit arbeitet sie an einem Forschungsprojekt (Taïma'), das die Qasida (eine musikalische Form, die auf der vokalen Improvisation klassischer Gedichttexte basiert) und die musikalische Dimension der arabischen Sprache untersucht, als Werkzeuge, um neue Methoden der Arbeit mit Elektronik zu generieren.
Sie nahm an internationalen Programmen und Residenzen teil (Hwaeom Residency, Südkorea 2017, Sound Development City, 2016, Gyeonggi Creation Center, Südkorea 2013...) und ist zweifache Preisträgerin des Musik-Residency-Programms an der Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, wo sie seit Januar 2020 ihr Projekt entwickelt.

Youmna Saba
Youmna Saba (*1984, Beirut) is a musician and musicologist whose research focuses on the interrelation between classical Arabic music from the Mashriq (mostly focusing on the vocal repertoire from the early 20th century), and electronic and electroacoustic treatments. She is currently working on a research project (Taïma’) that investigates the qasida (a musical form that is based on the vocal improvisation of classical poetry texts) and the musical dimension(s) of the Arabic language, as tools to generate new methods of working with electronics.
She took part in international programs and residencies (Hwaeom Residency, South Korea 2017, Sound Development City, 2016, Gyeonggi Creation Center, South Korea 2013...) and is a double laureate of the music residency program at La Cité Internationale des Arts, in Paris, where she has been developing her project since January 2020.
